Google Creates Web Browser

To much hype and fanfare, Google released its first ever web browser Chrome. The culmination of an open source project integrating a new applications platform, Chrome promises to be a lean, resource-efficient web browser that is built from the ground up on an entirely new philosophy.

Taking advantage of multiple processes – a first in the browser realm – Chrome claims to open each HTML page in a separate tab that is also a separate memory process. The browser runs independently of any JavaScript code executing in any of its tabs. This means that if one tab crashes, it doesn’t take down the entire browser with it. Since it is open source, the browser will also be modifiable, an idea that’s causing much excitement in developer circles.

Chrome also purports to eliminate much of the programming bloat surrounding current browsers. Whether it lives up to the popularity of Firefox and Internet Explorer only time will tell. But from the looks of reviews on the blogosphere, it seems to be highly promising.
